What Dhanishta means
Dhanishta is musical in the widest sense. It has natural timing, real material capability, and a group-leading quality. It is one of the more prosperous nakshatras and one of the more restless: the drum has to keep sounding, and stillness is uncomfortable.

Your birth star is where the Moon was

Dhanishta is ruled by Mars. That is not decoration: the nakshatra your Moon sits in decides which planetary period, or dasha, your life opens with. The twenty-seven run three times through the same nine lords, so Mars rules Dhanishta and two others, and the Vimshottari system uses that to time when things happen rather than only what they mean.
The gana is Rakshasa, which is demonic in the old sense, meaning fierce rather than evil: intense, protective, hard to move. Classical matchmaking still uses it when comparing two charts.
