The arc of Key 21

Control is the need to hold the reins because trusting is unbearable. Authority is control that has been earned and can therefore be shared, and Valor is using it on behalf of people who cannot yet do it themselves.

The two poles of Control

A Shadow is never only one behaviour. Each has a repressive pole, where the energy collapses inward, and a reactive pole, where it fires outward. Most people live mainly in one and visit the other under stress, and recognising which is yours is where the contemplation actually starts.

Repressed, it surrenders control and then seethes. Reactive, it seizes control over things that were never its to hold.

Working with Control

Control and Authority are not two different energies. They are the same one at two frequencies, which is why the instruction is never to replace control with authority. You watch control run, without arguing with it, until it stops being automatic. What is on the other side of that watching is authority, and valor is the same thing again with nothing personal left in it.

Programming partner: Gene Key 48

Key 21 is paired with Key 48, which runs Inadequacy to Resourcefulness to Wisdom. Partners sit opposite each other on the wheel of 64 and always move together, so control and inadequacy tend to show up in the same person, in the same week, feeding each other.

The useful way to read the pair: when authority is hard to reach, the block is often sitting in inadequacy rather than anywhere in Key 21. And resourcefulness is usually what makes authority sustainable rather than occasional. Contemplating one without the other is the most common way this system gets used badly.

Where Key 21 sits in the body
