The arc of Key 45

Dominance is leading by holding the resources. Synergy is leadership that makes the resource larger for everyone touching it, and Communion is what a group becomes when nobody is counting their share.

The two poles of Dominance

A Shadow is never only one behaviour. Each has a repressive pole, where the energy collapses inward, and a reactive pole, where it fires outward. Most people live mainly in one and visit the other under stress, and recognising which is yours is where the contemplation actually starts.

Repressed, it will not claim the resources it is meant to steward. Reactive, it holds them and calls the holding responsibility.

Working with Dominance

Dominance and Synergy are not two different energies. They are the same one at two frequencies, which is why the instruction is never to replace dominance with synergy. You watch dominance run, without arguing with it, until it stops being automatic. What is on the other side of that watching is synergy, and communion is the same thing again with nothing personal left in it.

Programming partner: Gene Key 26

Key 45 is paired with Key 26, which runs Pride to Artfulness to Invisibility. Partners sit opposite each other on the wheel of 64 and always move together, so dominance and pride tend to show up in the same person, in the same week, feeding each other.

The useful way to read the pair: when synergy is hard to reach, the block is often sitting in pride rather than anywhere in Key 45. And artfulness is usually what makes synergy sustainable rather than occasional. Contemplating one without the other is the most common way this system gets used badly.

Where Key 45 sits in the body

The Gene Keys share their 64 gates with Human Design, so Key 45 is also gate 45 in a bodygraph. It sits in the Throat, where things become speech or action, and it completes one channel, with gate 21.
